How long does each training class last?At Waggy's, we believe that the well-being and effective learning of your dog are of utmost importance. That is why all our training classes are designed to last 45 minutes. This duration is based on our professional experience, indicating that 45 minutes is the optimal time for a dog to maintain focus, attentiveness, and energy during training sessions. Longer sessions can lead to fatigue and decreased attention, resulting in less effective learning. Our goal is to ensure that each class is productive, engaging, and enjoyable for both you and your dog, setting a solid foundation for them to learn at their full potential.

Do I need to complete all levels of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards or can I just complete the Bronze level? No, you do not have to complete all three levels of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold). The good thing about the training that we offer at Waggy's Dog Training is that you are free to stop at any time and at any level. Some customers decided to just complete the Puppy Foundation Course, others choose to just complete the Bronze Award, which provides a solid foundation of training and good manners for your dog. However, the majority of our customers do decide to continue and progress through all levels, as it helps their dogs reach their full potential and ensures a well-rounded, well-behaved companion. At Waggy's Dog Training, we support you and your dog through each step according to your training goals and your dog's needs.

What are the benefits of group dog training classes compared to 1-to-1 training?Firstly it is important to identify that both group training classes and 1-to-1 training each contain benefits for both dogs and their owners. Like humans, not all dogs are the same with each having their own unique personalities and needs. This means some dogs will benefit more from group classes whilst some will respond better to 1-to-1 training. At Waggy's Dog Training, we currently only offer group dog training classes and while each has its merits, our group classes come with several unique benefits that can truly unleash your dog’s potential! 1. **Socialisation**: One of the most significant advantages of group classes is the opportunity for your dog to interact with other dogs and humans. This interaction helps improve their social skills and teaches them how to behave in various situations with other dogs and humans around. 2. **Real-World Distractions**: Group classes mimic real-life scenarios where distractions are aplenty. Training your dog in such an environment helps them learn and obey commands even when surrounded by distractions, making them more reliable in everyday settings. 3. **Cost-Effectiveness**: Group training classes are generally more affordable than 1-to-1 sessions, providing excellent value while still delivering high-quality training. This makes professional dog training accessible to more pet owners. 4. **Bonding Opportunities**: Attending group classes allows you to bond with your dog in a shared learning environment. The activities and exercises promote teamwork and strengthen the relationship between you and your furry friend. 5. **Peer Learning**: Dogs are naturally observant and can learn by watching their peers. Seeing other dogs perform commands successfully can motivate and encourage your dog to follow suit, accelerating their own learning process. 6. **Fun and Engaging Environment**: Group classes are designed to be lively and dynamic, keeping your dog engaged and enthusiastic about learning. The variety of activities and the presence of other dogs and owners make the training sessions enjoyable. Embrace the energy and excitement of group dog training classes, and watch as your dog thrives in a social and stimulating environment!
